Stuff to Scrap Retreat & Courses
If you haven't noticed, there have been some changes in the forum & one of those changes is the addition of a Stuff to Scrap Course section where you can participate in a variety of online courses to improve your scrapbooking skills. The first course that we have available is the 'All About Me' Journaling Class which is starting this Sunday, October 2nd so you need to hurry on over & sign up. The cost for the 8 week course is only $10.00 but you'll have access to the private forum for 10 weeks as we all know how life can get in the way at times!
In addition to the assignments, which will be posted twice a week, you'll also receive 2 templates, and a FREE kit of your choice from the Stuff to Scrap store. Also included in your class is a exclusive coupon code to use at Persnickity Prints to get 20% off your purchase if you decide to print your layouts through them. Click on the flier to go to the forum to sign up.

Our next available class is the 'Tell Your Travel' Journaling Class which is going to run a little differently from the previous class. This is a self paced 4 week course so there is no start date but you will only have access to the private forum for 6 weeks. There will be 2 assignments per week so the extra weeks will help you catch up if you need it. The cost of the course is only $6.00 & you'll have access to the private forum as soon as you sign up so make sure you're ready to go! Click on the flier to go to the forum to sign up.

Finally, you need to save the date for April 27 & 28, 2012 as that's when the Scrapalicious Digi-Retreat 2012 hosted by Stuff to Scrap will be taking place! The retreat will be held at the Comfort Suites in Schaumburg, Illinois located just 30 miles northwest of Chicago. I know that there are a lot of forum members already planning to go so come & join us, it's going to be a great time! Click on the flier to go to the retreat section of the forum to find out more information on the retreat.

If you're planning to join us in Schaumburg, tickets for the retreat are already on sale for $99.00 until December 31, 2011. After January 1, 2012 the ticket price will go up to $125.00 so this would be a great Christmas present to yourself! Nicole has arranged for a block of rooms at Comfort Suites in Schaumburg at $79/night (+tax) which is a great rate for Chicagoland. For more information on booking hotel room, please see the information posted in the store. If you plan on flying into Chicago, the closest airport to Schaumburg is O'Hare & there are always plenty of taxis & shuttles between the airport & hotels.
We hope to see a large turnout of forum members & designers, I know that most of us living within a reasonable driving distance are planning on attending. Check out the FAQs thread for general information & the Roomie Wanted thread if you're looking for someone to share a room with. The Chicagoland members have started a thread with stuff to do in & around Chicago; we'll keep it updated as the date comes closer. We hope you can come join us at the Scrapalicious Digi-Retreat 2012!

Scraps N' Pieces has a great hockey kit in the store, Penalty Box; I found it great for scrapping some pictures of my boys trying to ice skate for the first time *total disaster by the way*. I recently worked with a super cute kit, Space Cadets, by AmyDane Designs. It's perfect for all your little one's space adventures or Star Wars viewing parties. There's even a Lego-themed add-on to help scrap any pictures of kiddos playing with Lego Star Wars. Can't wait until my boys are old enough for those toys!

Carnival Time
This month's Build A Kit theme is carnivals with a fun, colorful palette. There are so many great portions, I'm so bummed that the boys are still not quite old enough to go to carnivals. That & Ian seems to not be very interested in rides these days, he's hit his fear stage. For those of you with kiddos who love the carnival, check out all the different offerings for sale; as usual, buy 3 or more kits & use the code SEPTBAK_BUY3_SAVEHALF to get 50% off your purchase of Build A Kits.
I got to work with two kits this month & lucky for me I had a bunch of pictures of the boys riding on carousels over the past year. Our first ride was a disaster but the second try back in March was much better; except for the fact that I got way too dizzy! For our second ride on the carousel, I used The Scrappy Kat's portion, Midway; this month Kat's got an element pack, a paper pack, a worn paper pack, quick page set 1 & quick page set 2.
Kit is Midway by The Scrappy Kat; font is Pea Ashlyn by Kevin & Amanda; and date rub-on by Funky Time Designs by Amber.
Our third try at riding carousels was fine for Jake but not for Ian as he's in full fear mode right now. So I had to use his ticket which was fun but again, that whole older person dizziness started up. Cannot wait until the boys are old enough to ride on their own! Designs by Christi's Land of Fun made for a great kit to scrap the pictures of Jake on the carousel & Ian watching.

Don't forge there are many more Build A Kits for sale this month!
